Silvestre in talks with Chennai franchise

Former Arsenal and Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre

The former French international could be soon seen plying his trade in the inaugural edition of the ISL...
Mikael Silvestre is close to signing for the Chennai franchise of the Indian Super League (ISL), Goal can confirm.
The 36-year old has played for some of the best clubs in the world, namely Manchester United, Arsenal, Inter Milan and Werder Bremen amongst a few.
He was in India for over a month as a pundit for a leading sports broadcaster during the World Cup.
It is reliably learnt that the defender has been on the radar of the southern side for the last week or so and is expected to put pen to paper over the weekend.
“It (ISL) looks like it’s a big deal for Indian football. It’s a project that comes on the other side of the I-League. It is to attract more people and sponsors. It will be good for football in India generally,” Silvestre had told Goal back in July this year.
Prashant Agarwal, CEO of Kshatriya Sports and technical advisor of the Chennai team remained unavailable for comment.
