ordan look to bag their first medal in football at the Asian Games as the Blue Tigers were sent home with a goal deficit of -7
India failed to score a single goal in the competition
India U-23 faced their second defeat as Jordan U-23 team scored a goal in each half in a group G match at the Asian Games 2014, on Monday.
Wim Koevermans made two changes from the side that lost 5-0 to United Arab Emirates (UAE) last week. Seiminlen Doungel and Ralrindika Ralte, who both came on as substitutes in the previous match replaced Mandar Rao Dessai and an injured Pronay Halder in the first eleven.
Robin Singh tested the Jordanian goalkeeper Abunabhan twice before the opening goal was scored at the opposite end in the 17th minute.
Jordan fired a couple of warning shots early on, which included an attempt that saw the ball go accross the face of the goal from the left foot of Albashtawi Subhi Drzi. He later found the back of the net from a rebound after goalkeeper Amrinder Singh palmed away an initial cross in his area.
Five minutes later, in the 22nd minute, skipper Sunil Chhetri came close to scoring the leveller but saw his shot from outside the box go wide.
India looked a bit more intent to score their first goal of the competition after the break as Robin Singh's attempt from about 25 yards out in the 65th minute was on target but straight to the man between the sticks.
Thalji Yousef then ensured his side's maiden appearance in the knockout stages of the Asian Games when he scored via the hands of Amrinder Singh again who wasn't able to get hold of a cross from the right.
As a result, the Indians crashed out positioned at the bottom of the table while Jordan finished on top thanks to their 1-0 win over UAE in their previous encounter.
